A fun and interesting way to buy discs is by ordering a Mystery Box. A Mystery Box is a bunch of discs that you buy in a lot, but you aren’t told what molds you’ll be getting. You can select a Mystery Box based on the number of discs in the box, and sometimes the brand. The actual molds remain a mystery until that exciting moment when the box gets delivered and you get to open it up!

In this blog I’ll tell you about some different ways you can order and use a Mystery Box. Then you can have even more ways to have fun with our Mystery Boxes.
‘Mystery Box Only’ Round
This is something you can do by yourself, or with a friend who also wants to get a Mystery Box. Pick your favorite course and when your boxes arrive, head to the course to see who can get the best score with your new discs. You could even make the competition more interesting by letting the winner choose one disc from the loser’s box!
Don’t have a buddy that wants to get a MB with you? No problem. Find a course that you play a lot and have established a personal record, then try to beat your best score using only discs from the Mystery Box.
Split a Box
If the cost of the bigger boxes is preventing you from getting one, ask a friend (or two) to go in on it with you. Then when they arrive, you can take turns choosing discs. Then you can head to the nearest course for a little friendly completion using the discs. If there is an odd number of discs, the winner of the round gets the extra disc!
Splitting a box also lets you try all of you buddy’s discs, and him your discs, to see which ones you like and want to bag. You get to try twice as many discs, at half the cost.
Try a New Disc or Brand
Years ago there were only a handful of disc golf brands to choose from. In the last couple years we’ve seen scores of new brands emerge to fight for a piece of the consumer pie. Mystery Boxes are a great way to experiment with some of these new brands and molds.
Deciding which new brands to try can be difficult. Let fate decide for you! When you buy a Mystery Box you will be getting a variety of brands and molds, some you might not have heard of before. You might get several molds that are new to you. Sometimes we throw in a limited edition disc, just to surprise you!
Make a Video
A fun way to share your mystery adventure is to make an unboxing video. Record your reaction to getting discs that you might not be familiar with. You can describe how they feel and predict how you think they will fly. Then you could head to a course and record a round with the new discs.
After your round you could give your thoughts about the discs. Did they fly like you thought? Which ones were your favorites? Will any discs end up in your bag? Share your experience with the disc golf world!
