Foundation Disc Golf is an online retailer based in Virginia. As a relatively new player in the game, they got their start in 2018 and officially launched their website in 2019. Despite their youth, they quickly soared to the top tier of the online disc golf world—thanks in part to the star power of Paul McBeth, arguably the GOAT of disc golf, and Brodie Smith, the most influential and outspoken figure in trick shots, Ultimate Frisbee, and professional disc golf. McBeth was one of the original founders of Foundation, but, in a classic case of “too many chefs in the kitchen,” he and the boisterous Brodie Smith didn’t see eye to eye. In early 2022, McBeth cashed out his ownership and left the retailer behind.
While their big-name influencer owners certainly helped propel Foundation’s rise, Hunter Thomas and Trevor Harbolt do a fantastic job running the company and keeping the content rolling on the Foundation Network. Foundation is widely recognized as one of the top disc golf content creators, with a massive YouTube following and a steady stream of podcasts keeping fans entertained.
Personally, I enjoy Foundation’s content and listen to their podcasts all the time—especially during the off-season, when the gossip and pro disc golfer trade rumors are hot.
When it comes to their website and business operations, Foundation runs on Shopify (just like us) and stocks discs from at least 23 different brands. Given that their big-name owners (past and present) are deeply tied to Discraft, it’s no surprise that their sales are heavily skewed toward the brand. According to their top-selling updates, Discraft alone accounts for nearly half of their total disc sales. While Discraft is a big name, it by no means has that much overall disc golf market share.
How Do Foundation Discs Prices Stack Up Against Discount Disc Golf?

The Verdict: Content Kings, But Pricing Peasants
After crunching the numbers, it’s pretty obvious that Foundation focuses more on their own apparel and merch than on competitive disc pricing. Not only were their prices higher across the board, but their selection was also noticeably thin. In fact, they were completely out of stock on many of our top-selling brands and molds. Case in point: they didn’t have a single Dynamic Discs Judge (one of the top-selling putters in disc golf) in stock in any plastic. It almost seems like they’ve given up on restocking House of Discs brands, Prodigy, and Lone Star altogether—so many of their molds were marked “out of stock.”
Fortunately, their website still displays prices for those out-of-stock discs, so we could at least compare the numbers—though if you were hoping to actually buy those discs, you might be out of luck. On top of that, they don’t stock any discs from Dino Discs, Divergent, Infinite Discs, RPM, or Viking—brands where we offer some of the best deals around. They once carried Yikun, but as of now, their shelves are bare.
Of all the online retailers we’ve compared in our cheaper than series thus far, Foundation is actually the most expensive website.
Final Thoughts: Should You Shop at Foundation Disc Golf?
At the end of the day, Foundation is a fantastic disc golf company. Their YouTube content is top-tier, their podcasts are entertaining, and if you love their work and want to support them beyond just watching ads and subscribing to Patreon, go ahead and shop on their website.
