One unique aspect of ABC’s beginnings was its manufacturing process. Unlike many other companies in the industry, ABC didn’t own their own injection molding machines. Instead, Dan chose to partner with a local plastic injection molding company, ensuring that his discs were made with the finest materials while supporting other local businesses. ABC Discs was literally a grassroots operation, at one point running out of Dan’s own home. His living room was famously lined with stacks of discs ready for shipment, symbolizing his dedication to the sport.
Dan’s generosity knew no bounds. Over the years, he donated more than 10,000 discs to disc golf tournaments, schools, events, and players. His vision wasn’t just to grow his business—it was to nurture the disc golf community and help the sport flourish. His selfless contributions left a lasting impact on many aspiring disc golfers.
The Pastore Legacy Lives On
In 2020, the disc golf world mourned Dan’s sudden passing at the age of 54. He left behind not just a business, but a legacy of kindness, passion, and integrity. Dan is survived by his wife and seven children, and while he is no longer with us, his love for disc golf lives on through the company he built.
When the local plastic manufacturer became too busy to continue producing ABC discs, the company partnered with Zing Mini Discs, known for their expertise in making mini marker discs. Zing now manufactures ABC’s line of discs, and in honor of Dan’s memory, a portion of every disc sold still goes to support the Pastore family.
